Success in Students' Guild Teaching Award nominations

Geography staff have received 4 nominations in three categories for this year’s teaching awards.

The teaching awards are run by the Guild and give students a chance to acknowledge their favourite academic staff at the University and say ‘thank you’ to those staff who go above and beyond what is expected of them. These awards do not take account of seniority, only the positive effect academics have on students.

Geography staff have received nominations in the following categories:

Head of Discipline Professor Jo Little said: "We are delighted that Geography has four nominations in the teaching award categories.  This is a great achievement by those nominated and is also testimony to the hard work and dedication of staff to teaching throughout  Geography”

Dr Simon Naylor, Director of Education for Geography in Cornwall, said: “having three staff nominated from Geography at Tremough is a real achievement and a great testament to the energy and commitment of the staff here”.

Now in their third year, the Students' Guild Teaching Awards have smashed all previous records receiving 2,021 individual nominations for 636 individual members of staff.

Following the publication of the shortlist, the winners will be announced at a ceremony in the University’s Great Hall on 3 May 2012.

Date: 4 April 2012
