REACT showcase

On May 1st, REACT KE Hub held a Showcase event at the Watershed in Bristol to celebrate the work of the Books & Print Sandbox.

Eight collaborations between creative economy partners and academics were commissioned by REACT to experiment, explore and play with new futures for stories, news, books, and print. The showcase audience saw the premiere of short films about the development of each of these collaborations and had a chance to test and explore the prototypes produced by them. Read more about this event in the blog post by Simon Moreton, REACT Knowledge Exchange Fellow.

The event featured Digitising the Dollar Princess, a collaboration led by Dr Nicola Thomas, Senior Lecturer in Human Geography, University of Exeter, and Charlotte Quickenden, Managing Director of software development company Bow Software. Nicola, Charlotte and their team have set out to break new digital ground in the genre of biography. The digital biography of Mary Curzon, the charismatic Vicereine of India at the turn of the 19th and 20th century is brought to life by physical bookmarks which unlock a compelling non-linear reading experience led by curiosity and rich interaction with source materials.
