Postgraduate Researcher
Physical Geography

Camila Toledo is a PhD researcher in marine science and climate risk at the University of Exeter. Her work examines how climate change is reshaping marine systems, with a particular focus on ocean warming, marine heatwaves, and the increasing absence of seasonal cold spells, and their implications for UK marine aquaculture. Her research aims to support adaptation and sustainable management under a rapidly evolving climate.

With a background in Earth Sciences and Oceanography (BSc) and Ecosystem Management (MSc), Camila specialises in the interface between physical and biological oceanography, ecological processes, and marine socio-economic systems. Her research integrates remote sensing approaches, spatial and environmental data analysis, statistical modelling, and stakeholder engagement to characterise thermal stress risks and fine-scale variability relevant to aquaculture sites.

Camila is part of the Centre for Doctoral Training SuMMeR, a transdisciplinary programme focused on building resilient marine and coastal systems and delivering research with real-world impact.
