Dr. Daniel James is Lecturer in Geography at the University of Exeter. He joined Exeter in September 2022. Prior to this he worked as Lecturer in Geography at the University of East Anglia. He received his PhD from the London School of Economics.
Daniel's research explores the memory of political violence in Latin America, with a particular focus on the memory of forced disappearances in post-Dirty War Argentina. He has lived and worked in Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
At Exeter, Daniel is a member of the Cultural and Historical Geography and Just Futures research groups. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the Memory Studies Association and Society for Latin American Studies.
He welcomes interest from potential students in any of the following areas: memory, mourning, transitional justice, and Latin American history, politics and culture.
