Emily Doyle

About me:

I am a PhD student in the Global Systems Institute. I previously studied a BSc in Geography at the University of Exeter (UoE), where I focused on biogeography, tropical ecosystems and the use of earth observation. Further, I obtained an MSc in Conservation at University College London (UCL), liaising with the JNCC during my master’s thesis. I assessed the spatial and temporal evolution of Angolan Afromontane forest utilising a multi-satellite composition from 1972 to 2019.

My research will focus on the use of novel satellite data to quantify tropical forest degradation and carbon stocks and understanding biome-scale indicators of resilience in the Amazon.

I am a member of Professor Tim Lenton’s Ecosystem Resilience research group, Ted Feldpausch’s Tropical Ecology research group and Andy Cunliffe’s Terrestrial Ecosystems Science and Services group.

Primary interests include: the use of earth observation; tropical forest ecology; disturbance and recovery; forest- climate interactions; and the conservation and regeneration of these ecosystems.
