Dr Hidir Serkendiz

Dr Hidir Serkendiz is a geographer based in the Department of Geography and the Global Systems Institute. He is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working under the supervision of Dr Catherine Bradshaw on the Past to Future (P2F) project, where he investigates palaeoclimate and past climate-human interactions.

His research focuses on climate-related hazards and their vulnerability and risk assessment, with particular emphasis on hot-dry climate hazards such as droughts, heatwaves, and wildfires. He combines climate model simulations, geospatial analysis, and palaeoclimate data to investigate the spatio-temporal dynamics of past climate hazards and their environmental and societal impacts. His research aims to improve our understanding of long-term human-environment interactions and provide insights that can inform future climate risk assessment under a changing climate.
