I am a PhD student focusing on seasonal forecasting of the European North-West shelf seas (shallow waters heavily impacted by atmospheric variability). I have quantified current and potential future levels of ocean temperature forecasting skill in a large-ensemble global dynamical forecasting system, identified limits to predictability and erroneous components in the coupled model, and used large-ensemble simulations to explore risk and predictability of extreme events.
My background is in climate sciences and I have previously worked on mesoscale oceanography (eddies) physical-biogeochemical extreme events.
