About me:
Mehdi Bagheri Gavkosh joined the Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) at the University of Exeter as a PhD researcher in May 2023. His doctoral research focuses on Natural Flood Management (NFM) and its role in flood risk management through hydrological monitoring, hydrological data analysis and hydraulic modelling. His research investigates how multiple nature-based approaches can enhance flood resilience by assessing six rapid-response catchments across South West England.
Prior to joining Exeter, Mehdi obtained a BSc in Water Engineering from Lorestan University in 2015, followed by an MSc in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Tehran in 2017. Since completing his postgraduate studies, Mehdi has contributed to research in several areas of water science and engineering, including flood seasonality, groundwater management, land subsidence, surface water–groundwater interactions, and aquifer storage and recovery management.
Alongside his research activities, Mehdi has worked extensively as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant (PTA) across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules within geography, water and environmental engineering disciplines. His teaching contributions include supporting numerical and hydraulic modelling exercises, data analysis training, fieldwork sessions, marking and student learning activities.
