About me:
Professor Paul Halloran is an expert in ocean climate, biogeochemistry and marine climate intervention. He leads the SeaCURE project, a pioneering initiative exploring the potential of Direct ocean Carbon Capture (DOCC) as a scalable method to capture and permanently store atmospheric CO₂, which has built and piloted one of only three Direct Ocean Carbon Capture facilities in the world. SeaCURE harnesses electrochemical processes to extract CO₂ from seawater while enhancing its alkalinity, thereby enabling continued CO₂ uptake from the atmosphere and contributing to long-term climate mitigation. Paul works closely with government, regulators, and industry to understand and address the wider barriers to responsible mariner Carbon Dioxide Removal.
