Dr Sarah Redicker
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Human Geography
As an interdisciplinary researcher, my work centres on climate adaptation, water, migration, and rural development. Working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Geography Department at the University of Exeter, I draw on development studies, human geography, and development economics to address complex socio-environmental challenges through both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Currently, my work involves contributing to three major research projects: the HABITABLE project funded by EU Horizon 2020, the SUCCESS project funded by IDRC and FCDO, and the CLAPS project funded by FCDO. These projects examine the dynamics of (im)mobility in the context of climate change, exploring how climate variability influences patterns of migration and immobility across different regions.
Prior to joining Exeter, I completed my PhD in Development Policy and Management at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester. My doctoral research examined how irrigation development and adaptation strategies can mitigate the impacts of climate change on poverty and food insecurity among smallholder farmers in West Africa. I also hold master’s degrees in development studies and geography from the University of Passau.
