Overview

I am an Oppenheimer-Turvil doctoral scholar at the University of Exeter in the department of Geography (physical). I am part of the larger Oppenheimer Programme in African Landscapes Systems (OPALS). I previously studied a bachelor’s degree in forestry and wildlife management at the university of Port Harcourt, Nigeria where I focused on forest soils and forest trees. I further obtained an MSc in Silviculture and Forest Biology. For my master’s thesis I assessed the above-ground carbon stock and soil properties of an arboretum in Nigeria.

My current research is focused on improving the understanding of the dynamics of African landscapes through the application of the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) Land Surface Model to improve its capability in simulating African landscapes and hence its value for decision makers in Africa.

My interest includes African ecosystems, land surface modelling, forestry, conservation, and restoration biology.

Qualifications
