Overview
I am currently employed on a European Maritime and Fisheries Fund grant to monitor marine health in the south west of England. The project aim is to assist marine spatial planning efforts in the delivery of healthy regional ecosystems that support both biodiversity and livelihoods. To achieve this we are applying the Ocean Health Index methodology across a suite of marine data including fisheries, water quality and coastal habitats.
My role as a GIS and data technician draws on previous experience in R, systematic conservation planning and decision support software (Marxan). Previously my research has focused on marine spatial planning and fisheries in the data poor region of Myanmar. I am also involved in the University's Basking shark (2017 and 2019 seasons) and Atlantic Bluefin tuna (2018 and 2019 seasons) tagging projects.
